Changing Link baiting tactics

There is a post from seroundtable.com where they have posted out that there is a frequent need of changing our strategies towards the changing global search engine tactics.The old link baiting is good but we have to get more out of it .

What they pointed out?

• The long term value of social media links is questionable ? why because anybody can easily have it for himself and his/her website which looses its value.
• Social links dont drive sales
• Links can become stale very quickly
