Migrating >> B2Evolution To Wordpress

It is better to follow these steps instead of converting it using converter because of some problems with converter.Like categories missing name while transferring, related posts plugin for Wordpress will also have problems with it.

B2Evolution supports multiple blogs at once. This requires the installation of the software once and you can up to 1000 blogs at the same time on different pages in different folders or in different areas.
This feature allows you to create multiple blogs on the same page and you can add Photoblogs, Moblogs, Link Blog, Blog Rolls or like in the module.
. In case it proves helpful to anyone else considering switching, I’ll outline the procedure:

1. Download this conversion script(From here    http://themikecam.com/downloads/import-b2evolution-wp2.php.txt  and rename it to .php be sure that you are using only .php not the .php.txt
2. Now you should take the backup of your b2evolution database, just in case.export-mysql

How to backup is simple if you are hosted on linux version servers go to yourdomain.com:2082 fill the username password there and then go to backup wizard and click on full backup. If your host have no such facility then you can go to ftp and download all the files of your blog to a folder. And Now you have to take Database backup for it select phpmyadmin after it you will be forwarded to phpmyadmin.

Choose the database and click on it then go to the export tab.Select the options and format in which you need backup and click go and then download and save the file.

(if you’re on Windows, SQLyog is a good, free program for working with MySQL databases).

Download the latest version of Wordpress from wordpress website and upload it after unzipping to your site through your FTP program. You do not need to delete the files still b2evolution. You will have to overwrite an existing file index.php with the Wordpress does.

Make sure you know that the connection for you b2evolution database – if you are unsure, you can find information in your b2evolution installation _config.php file (in conf folder).

www.yoursitename.com / wp-admin / install.php. www.yoursitename.com / wp-admin / install.php. Walking through the normal procedure for installing Wordpress, but make sure you use the same database of information that will be used for b2evolution including the name of the database.
This will ensure the necessary tables Wordpress b2evolution alongside your existing tables in a database.

Upload import b2evolution-wp2.php on your site, in the wp-admin and the fire in your browser: www.yoursitename.com/wp-admin/import-b2evolution-wp2.php. Follow the instructions and make sure the same database with information from the last step. You should probably see a success message, in which case your b2evolution contributions, comments, links, users, etc. are copied to the Wordpress tables.

Do not forget to delete install.php and import b2evolution-wp2.php file in the wp-admin. Now go to your blog homepage, and the default Wordpress installation, populated places with your b2evolution from.

If this works, you can safely delete your b2evolution files (do not delete any files you want to keep, as in the media or the skins folder) and delete all tables in the database with the prefix evo_ (but not delete advance wp_).

Problems With Permalinks while converting

To set the date and name a permanent basis in Wordpress, you will find spaces replaced with dashes instead of underscores in links to new posts.URL rewriting is screwed. The importer didn’t populate post names with posts.

Recently, there has been a good deal of litigation by the
US Federal trade comission against bloggers and website owners
for not revealing their advertising profits, or existing
relationships with ad networks.

What are your personal ideas concerning how this could potentially impact
the blogging world?

In my view it will lead to more transparency and can help government to have an eye on the not so clear income of the blogger but it will affect the blogger’s world on large specially for those who are really making money….

Thanks for this! I searched the internet for weeks looking for the perfect solution to migrating my b2evo blog to wordpress, and this was the best.

I had some trouble with the dates on my posts — but thanks to records in google’s cache I was able to set the permalinks right.

Here’s an odd thing — when I go to edit or create posts, the wordpress wysiwyg editor doesn’t show. Could this be a side effect of the b2evo migration? How do you suggest I fix it?
