Apple had filed to patent the term “”Magic Trackpad” with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.While we have to keep in mind the thing that In July 2009, Apple was granted a patent for a trackpad that never came to market which covered advanced imaging, infrared & optical emitter-detector sensors that could be used in future iterations of Apple notebooks.While it is not clear that whether this would be used for a standalone product, or a rebranding of the multi-touch trackpad on existing MacBook hardware.

But it looks like they want to control of the trademark in relation to computers and devices in both hardware and software.It is now left to the guess that whether this term “Magic TrackPad” is related to pcoming MacBook refresh or an iPad accessory that will address graphics and light pen text generation.
